  1. Why should I choose Niall Featherstone Photography for my wedding?

As a professional wedding photographer, you can be assured of the quality and professionalism of my work.

To maintain my high level of service and quality that I give to all my couples, I choose to limit the number of weddings I photograph each year. By doing so I can ensure that all my couples get the best service possible for their wedding day!

  2. Do you have a photography style that you shoot on a wedding day?

I will shoot with a variety of styles on your wedding day including: Reportage (Capturing those candid moments and laughter with your friends and family), Traditional but relaxed (The people herding for the dreaded group photos) along with some more contemporary and artistic styled photographs (the wow photos, that will make your jaws drop once you see the results), to provide you with the utmost flexibility and diversity for your wedding photo album.

My actual style of photography is determined by the bride and groom, this is something we will discuss during the pre-wedding meeting. While we have this chat we'll plan in any formal group photos you may also require.

  3. How long until we get our photographs and how do we view them?

Your gallery of edited photographs will usually be online with 2 weeks of the wedding, typically much sooner. Your photographs will also appear in the blog, usually a couple of days after the wedding providing you with a sneak peak of your wedding day.

I'm not one of those photographers, that will sit around with your wedding photographs still on my cameras SD cards 4-6 weeks after your wedding day. I enjoy editing my couples wedding photographs, as close to the wedding day as I can, so that all those memories are still on my mind, this means you will still get the amazing quality and detail I put into editing each photograph, usually before your back home from your honeymoon.

You and your guests can access a password-protected gallery to view the photographs. Additionally, during your evening reception, you have the option for me to setup up a large screen that displays thirty to sixty edited photographs from the day. This allows you and your guests to preview some of the photographs that will be included in your proofs.

  4. We are getting married outside of County Durham?

That's no problem at all, I love to travel and see the world, which is why I choose to offer wedding photography coverage at weddings across the whole of the UK including: Lake District, Scotland, Yorkshire, Peak District and also travelling across the globe to locations like Venice and Paris.

If your getting married abroad, I will subsidise my travel costs and expenses to wedding couples who book me, for locations that would look great for my soon to be destination wedding photography page. So if your planning on flying away for your wedding day, drop me a message, I would love to join yous for it.

  5. Can we tailor one of your wedding collections?

I designed my wedding collections to offer a wide variety of services including: Different Albums, Album sizes, Image sizes, Videography coverage, Cinematic highlight reel, pricing. Hopefully there is a collection that caters for all your needs and more.

I am able to tailor bespoke packages for couples who may want extra services, or to increase the number of pages, enlarge photographs or change the album style, this is all something we can discuss at the time of booking.

  6. Can you use a drone on our wedding day?

Yes I am able to use a drone on your wedding day, but this does depend on the weather and regulations of your wedding venue, There are a lot of rules and regulations, when it comes to flying a drone especially when doing so for commercial usage. This is why I am a fully qualified and insured drone operator. I look to include drone photography in all of my wedding packages where I can, depending on the law.

If you add a Cinematic Highlight reel or choose, a collection that includes one already, we will also use the drone, to incorporate video clips of your wedding venue and party providing a unique perspective to your cinematic highlight reel.

  7. Do you edit all the photographs?

Yes, I will personally edit every photograph that I deliver to you, I don't outsource any of my editing or use any A.I software, I also edit all my videos too.

  8. Do you offer reduce rates for weekday bookings?

Yes I do! If you have a wedding booked on Monday through to Thursday, I offer up to £400 off depending on which wedding collection you choose:
    Ruby Collection - £400 off
    Platinum Collection - £300 off
    Diamond Collection - £200 off
This is a standalone offer and can not be stacked with other discounts or promotion events.

  9. When and how do we pay?

At the time of booking, I ask for a £200 non refundable deposit, this secures the date for your wedding. (I work on a first payment secures basis, because of this popular dates do go quickly).
The final balance is due 6 weeks before the wedding date. Payment can be made by debit card, bank transfer or cheque. Online orders for photographs and vouchers can be paid for with credit and debit cards.

  10. How long will it take for our album to be ready?

Once you have enjoyed and returned from your honeymoon, you can choose which photographs you would like to go into your album, (This process can be done in as little as a few weeks, whereas other couples can take almost a year to pick their photographs).

  11. What happens if your ill?

I'm in a group of really talented photographers. We formed it during Covid, so we could help each other out when needed. We've stuck together since then, and they're the first people I'd reach out to if something bad happens.

  12. Do you have Insurance?

Both myself and the second photographer are fully insured with full public liability and employer liability insurance, as well as full professional indemnity insurance just in-case. Additionally, our drone operations are fully insured.

  13. Would I own the copyright for the photographs?

According to the law, copyright is automatically given to the photographer or if a second photographer is hired on my behalf, the company or business employing them (Niall Featherstone Photography). If you purchase a High Resolution file of your photographs these include a license for unlimited personal use by the purchaser. Personal use covers social media and printing in a non commercial environment.

For commercial usage information please see below or get in touch for any queries.

  14. We would like to use one of your photographs or text commercially for our business.

To obtain a high-resolution copy of an image, please get in touch with me. The cost of a single-use license for one image is £300, which is valid for up to 12 months. If you require multiple photographs or plan to use the image(s) more than once, a discount of 33% will be applied. The license permits usage for up to 12 months or any part thereof. Please note that no discount is offered for licenses of less than 12 months.

The cost for text is £100 for every 50 words. For unauthorized use, these prices are non-negotiable. It is highly recommended to contact me beforehand to discuss usage terms and any costs.

  15. What do I need to do to book in my photoshoot?

For all photoshoots, I require a deposit at the time of booking and the full final balance paid 3 weeks before the main shoot date, along with a signed contract.
If either of these terms are broken the photoshoot can not go ahead.

  16. Why can’t wedding photography/videography hours be split?

Consecutive hours are standard because the photographer needs to stay on-site to capture all key moments throughout the day. Weddings are unpredictable, and splitting the coverage could result in missing important moments. Staying continuously ensures we’re ready for everything, from candid moments to event preparations like checking lighting and coordinating with other vendors.
