Embrace the weather

Your wedding day is meticulously planned, except for one thing – the weather. But there's something truly special about weddings in the rain. While rain on your wedding day might feel like a disappointment at first, it can actually result in some of the most stunning and unique wedding photographs you'll ever have.

Rain creates a soft, romantic and intimate atmosphere that is perfect for capturing the love and emotions between you and your partner. The raindrops on windows, leaves and other surfaces provide a beautiful backdrop for your photos, adding an extra layer of interest and texture.

Here are my top 10 tips for better wedding photographs even on a rainy wedding day:

Wedding photography Tip 1 - Make sure you always have an umbrella with you. Most professional wedding photographers will have a white umbrella with them on any couples wedding day. The white umbrella stops colour cast onto your wedding photographs. Its always great to have a handful of umbrellas on hand to give out to the whole bridal party to get those awesome group shots in the rain and most importantly stop the brides beautiful hair getting wet.

Wedding photography Tip 2 - Wear appropriate clothing: Make sure you have a raincoat or rain jacket to wear over your wedding attire.

Wedding photography Tip 3 - Embrace the weather: Let go of your worries about getting wet and embrace the rain. Have fun with it and allow yourself to be spontaneous and playful.

Wedding photography Tip 4 - Use an off camera flash to balance the low light, consider using a flash or off-camera lighting to add some extra illumination to your photos.

Wedding photography Tip 5 - Experiment with reflections: Rainy weather can create stunning reflections in puddles, windows, and other shiny surfaces. Use these reflections to add another layer of interest to your photos

Wedding photography Tip 6 - Even if the weather on your wedding day is chilly, maintain a bright smile as if you're on a sun-soaked beach with a cocktail in hand. Taking a few minutes to brave the cold for your wedding photos is worth it for a lifetime of cherished memories. Remember, you'll always recall the weather on your special day, so keep that smile on your face and enjoy the moment. Your happy expressions will be captured forever in stunning wedding photos.

Wedding photography Tip 7 - Get creative: Don't be afraid to try new and creative things with your photos. Consider incorporating props such as a rain hat or boots, or experimenting with different poses and perspectives.

Wedding photography Tip 8 - Timeless and classic: Rainy wedding photos have a timeless and classic look that will never go out of style. These images will be cherished for years to come and are sure to evoke memories and emotions for generations to come.

Wedding photography Tip 9 - Unique and creative images: With rain, come opportunities for unique and creative images. For example, the raindrops on the bride's dress or the groom's suit can add an extra element of beauty to your photos. Additionally, the reflections on the ground and surrounding surfaces can provide an interesting and visually appealing background.

Wedding photography Tip 10 - Extra Socks! having a pair of dry socks to change into after being out in the rain is one of the best ways to get your feet dried off quickly and get your body warm faster.

By following these tips, you can create amazing rain wedding photos that you'll treasure for a lifetime. So, don't let a little rain dampen your spirits. Embrace the weather and make the most of it!
